United Nations Poverty-Environment Initiative

Partnerships

The UNDP-UNEP Poverty-Environment Facility is planning to work very closely with partners from the Poverty and Environment Partnership (PEP). Our aim is to liaise closely with the different actors working in the field of Environment and Development so as to maximize the chances of success at regional and country levels.  This will be attained by initiating global partnerships with research and practitioner organizations around the World.  A successful partnership will enhance the chances of accomplishing the overall objectives of the Poverty-Environment initiative and allow the Facility to utilize efficiently the technical skills of experts involved in the relevant fields.

Partnerships with research and practitioner organizations around the World are being initiated.

The partnership programme also involves key multilateral and bilateral donors; this will allow for a faster and more important resource mobilization capacity, which is needed to scale-up support to countries to meet their particular operational mainstreaming needs. To date, the PEI has been supported by the European Commission and governments of Belgium, Norway and the UK. Other donors such as Denmark, Ireland and Sweden have recently provided additional financial support and the PEI is discussing partnerships with a number of other bilateral and multilateral donors.
