Land has been cleared and trees cut

Influx of herds of livestock and uncontrolled grazing has contributed to land degradation and depletion of water resources

A few years back forest and green vegetation covered this landscape in Kigoma district but the scenery changed drastically as a result of environmental destruction cased by influx of thousands of refugees from Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Extra efforts and resources are required to revive the environment.

Forest fires pose a serious environmental problem which has to be addressed through community awareness programmes and sensitisation of loal authorities.
