Transition to Green Economy Conferance

Nepal hosted a high-level international conference to transition to green economy. Government officials and civil society organizations from across eight countries working with PEI in Asia Pacific met in Kathmandu, Nepal from the 27th to 30th of May to discuss best mechanisms to transform to an inclusive green economy.

In the race towards achieving economic growth, current government planning and budgeting procedures tend to overlook environmental assets and social well-being, often promoting activities that deplete natural capital and affect the livelihoods of the vast population that is dependent on the environment.

74 delegates from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Lao PDR, Nepal, Philippines, Mongolia, Myanmar, Indonesia including civil society organizations representatives and
international organizations will meet.
